Job summary

Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a Nursing Unit Manager to lead assigned units, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive high‑quality patient care. You will hire, train and develop staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with leadership to optimize operations.

The role requires IL RN licensure, a nursing diploma, and several years of leadership experience. Expect day shifts with some weekend rotation and ongoing clinical governance responsibilities in a dynamic hospital

Qualifications

• RN license in Illinois is required
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program
• Minimum 3 years of experience in nursing leadership or management
• Minimum 2 years of prior management experience

Responsibilities

• Manage activities, workflow and nursing resources of assigned unit(s)
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within unit
• Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff
• Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s)
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit
• Monitor and adhere to budget
• Approve or monitor expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines
• 24H accountability 7 days per week with rotating weekend coverage with other managers
• Primarily day shift hours with expectation that leader will assure touch base with associates on all shifts
• Typically holidays are off unless unit needs take precedence for patient and staff safety

Qualifications

Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required

3 Year Of Experience Required

1 year of leadership or management experience required

Licensed as an RN in the State of IL

Previous management experience with minimum of 2 years
