Job summary

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) seeks a Behavior Analyst to collaborate with teachers and program staff within the Office of Student Services. The role focuses on observing, assessing, and developing behavior management plans for students from diverse backgrounds, including those with special education needs.

The position requires BCBA certification, effective teamwork, and the ability to travel across Montgomery County. A PA driver’s license and clearances are necessary.

Qualifications

  • Valid PA driver’s license; travel to classrooms across Montgomery County; background clearances required.
  • Proficiency with office equipment, computers, and report formatting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to teachers and program supervisors on observing students and collecting baseline data.
  • Assist in developing data collection techniques for behavior analysis.
  • Develop written descriptions of behavior programs for individual students.
  • Help implement behavior management plans in classroom settings.
  • Assist with IEP revisions to support behavior modification goals.
  • Attend IEP meetings with parents and teachers to discuss plans.
  • Instruct staff in passive restraint techniques when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator(s).

Job description

A vacancy exists for Behavior Analyst to work within the Office of Student Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! The Behavior Analyst develops behavior management programs for students with classroom staff and the program supervisor that meet the needs of students from various backgrounds, including students who have experienced school failure, students identified as in need of special education and students with severe behavioral and emotional challenges.

This position will be available on Monday, August 24th.

Qualifications
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, cooperative, congenial, and self-oriented.
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, use computer technology efficiently, be a proficient typist, and know how to format business correspondence/reports.
  • Valid PA driver's license; this position will require travel to classrooms/programs throughout Montgomery County
  • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to teachers and to program supervisors in observing students presenting management problems and in taking baseline data on their behavior.
  • Provide consultation to teachers and the program supervisor in selecting and developing appropriate data collection techniques.
  • Develop written descriptions of behavior programs for specific students.
  • Provide consultation to teachers and the program supervisor in developing behavior management programs for both specific students and the classroom milieu.
  • Assist teachers in making IEP revisions when they are necessary in order to implement a behavior modification program.
  • Attend IEP meetings with parents along with the teachers and the program supervisor to discuss behavior modification programs.
  • Instruct staff members in the use of passive restraint techniques and assist teachers in applying these techniques when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator(s).
Location

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School Age K-12 classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. For additional information about the MCIU Student Services, please visit: https://mciu.org/office-of-student-services/.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

This position will be available on Monday, August 24th.

Salary

Bachelor's, Step 1: $53,997/year

Master's, Step 1: $65,007/year

  • Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
