Job summary

Bristol Health is looking for a Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistant to join the patient care team at Bristol Health in Bristol, CT. You will perform direct care under RN supervision, assist with daily activities, monitor vital signs and ensure a patient-centered approach in a busy hospital setting.

Required are a High School diploma or GED, active CT CNA license, CPR/BLS certification, and at least 1 year of experience in long term care or behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Must have a valid and active CNA Certification in the state of Connecticut.
• Must have a valid CPR w/BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in long term care and/or behavioral health.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients under supervision/direction of the registered nurse.
• Assists with bathing, ambulation, feeding, toileting and vital signs.

Performs a wide variety of patient care tasks utilizing a Patient Focused Care model. Follows standardized procedures prescribed in a clinical pathway, including activities related to direct care, diagnostic testing, patient transport and documentation, as directed by RN.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provides direct care to patients under supervision/direction of the registered nurse

QualificationsEducational/Minimum requirements:

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Must have a valid and active CNA Certification in the State of Connecticut.
• Must have a valid CPR w/BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a long term care and/or behavioral health setting.

Preferred:

• Good communication skills
• 1 year experience in acute care inpatient environment as Patient Care Assistant or CNA

State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:

None

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Accucheck, CPR, Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Health Care Provider CPR from American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer CPR by American Red Cross or other similar programs deemed appropriate by management. Additional cross-training as appropriate to perform diverse job duties. Successfully complete all training programs as determined by the Hospital. Other unit based competencies/skills as required.

Special Requirements:

Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology. Ability to work as part of a team. Data entry and documentation skills. Experience working with a psychiatric population.

Physical Requirements:

Significant walking, bending, stooping, patient lifting and positioning. Must be able to participate in PERT. Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and data entry.

Work Environment:

Stressful working conditions in a patient care environment. Exposure to patient fluids and waste. Rapid pace and variable environment.

Cognitive Requirements:

Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties involved in patient care. Good communication skills, written and oral, and ability to follow written and oral instruction.
