Job summary

Spring Education Group's Merryhill School in California is seeking a Beginner Teacher to create a warm, nurturing classroom where young children feel safe and excited to learn. You will implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and establish routines that support foundational academic and social-emotional skills.

You will also plan arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and hands-on experiences, while providing attentive supervision and partnering with families to monitor milestones.

Qualifications

  • 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education with coursework in child development and family/community.
  • Experience with toddlers in a licensed child care setting is preferred.
  • Patience and nurturing instincts with a love for early learning.

About the Role

As a Beginner Teacher at Merryhill School, you will create a warm, nurturing classroom where young children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. You will implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, establish consistent classroom routines, and help children build foundational academic, social-emotional, and self-help skills. This role also includes partnering with families to support developmental milestones, including potty training.

You will also:

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and learning activities
  • Plan and facilitate arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and hands‑on educational experiences
  • Provide attentive supervision during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, snacks, and transitions
  • Support children with potty training and other age‑appropriate personal‑care routines
  • Encourage language development, independence, positive peer interactions, and emotional growth
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leaders to provide a consistent and positive student experience
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding classroom activities and student development
  • Follow all school policies and applicable licensing requirements related to health, safety, and student supervision
What We’re Looking For
  • 12 semester (or 18 quarter) units in Early Childhood Education, including coursework in child development, curriculum, and family/community
  • Experience working with toddlers in a licensed child care setting preferred
  • Deep patience, nurturing instincts, and a genuine love for infants and early learning
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with both children and families
  • Reliable, collaborative, and committed to high‑quality care and education
