Job summary

Saginaw Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Support Staff member to assist in before/after school programs under the Program Director's guidance.

You will help plan activities, monitor snacks, and sign in/out students while building positive relationships with families and the school community.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of age appropriate activities.
  • Knowledge of basic math, grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning styles.
  • Skilled in operating classroom equipment.
  • Ability to schedule activities and collate data.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, urban setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents and the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Learn all aspects of the program, including recruitment, planning, and evaluation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Saginaw Public Schools Before the Bell/After the Bell employees are responsible for assisting in before school/after school programs in any manner that is requested by the Program Director to help assure a quality program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn all aspects of the program, which includes recruitment, planning, and evaluation
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of daily snacks
  • Assist with sign in/out for students attending the before and after school programs
  • Make every effort to develop positive, professional and constructive relationships with children, parents and the local school community
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as directed
  • Plan and implement a series of program sessions for the regular school year
  • Communicate and related to children, staff, parents and supervisors in a professional and positive manner
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily programs under the direction of the Program Director
  • Plan and prepare a creative learning environment that fits the needs and interests of the children
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of age appropriate activities
  • Knowledge of basic math, grammar and punctuation

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with middle/high school aged students preferred
  • Previous experience coordinating or facilitating programs preferred
