Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of programs.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including local school districts, parents, college/university faculty and staff.
  • Supervise and mentor instructional and support staff.
  • Work with students on a focus of career pathways that may lead to program completion, general requirements, or CTE path.
  • Create and coordinate a personal curriculum process for students.
  • Oversight of planning and implementing IEPs, monitoring, compliance, programming, and servicing for students with disabilities.
  • Inform appropriate partners of student progress, opportunities, and potentialities.
  • Create strong partnerships with local school districts across the region and state.
  • Establish and foster connections with SVSU and Delta College.
  • Coordinate and administer all required state assessments.
  • Coordinate and complete all state and district required reports and plans (Continuous Improvement Plan, Program Evaluation, etc.).
  • Develop and implement a system of academic, social, behavioral, and emotional invention for students.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The educator in this position will provide support and education to students enrolled at the Great Lakes Bay Early College and within the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center. The educator in this position will support students’ need for social emotional support, for registration into programming, with transition into and out of the center, and with guidance to maintain a positive learning progressions toward graduation and program completion. The person in this position must be collaborative and focused on student success. Support for this position include, but are not limited to, Saginaw ISD Career and Technical Education, Instructional Services and Special Education offices, local educational agencies, Delta College staff, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services staff, and Center staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in education related field, Master’s Degree preferred.

  2. School Administrator Certification or ability to obtain in 3 years preferred.

  3. A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated successful leadership experience in education.

  4. Experience leading individuals and teams towards improvement goals.

  5. Evidence of capacity to create partnerships between multiple agencies.

  6. Evidence of capacity to move ideas from concept to implementation.

TASKS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:


  1. Model effective strategies for staff.

  2. Provide SEL, and counseling, support(s) to students.

  3. Work with staff to ensure that evidence-based programs are implemented appropriately.

  4. Assist teachers in addressing student needs and goals.

  5. Schedule students, ensure their educational goals, and maintain a positive progression.

  6. Enroll students into the program.

  7. Track student count for the program.

  8. Propose and monitor teacher and course schedules.

  9. Act as a liaison and advocate for all students.

  10. Other duties/tasks as assigned.
