Job summary

South Washington County Schools in Cottage Grove is seeking a Kids Club Paraprofessional for the Before School program at Cottage Grove Elementary School. The person assists KC Supervisors, supports activities, and helps with lesson implementation and supervision of students enrolled in OST programs, following district guidelines.

Starting pay is $21.93 per hour with potential for a $.50 raise upon Highly Qualified status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, professionalism and communication skills.
• Proven ability to provide services to student as directed by supervisor in a manner that demonstrates a positive respect for the dignity and basic rights of children.
• Models appropriate behavior, neat appearance, and proper grammar usage for all students.
• Actively participates in district-sponsored training when offered.
• Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and navigating on the internet
• Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests.
• Sixty hours of relevant training in childcare.
• 1040 hours of previous experience working with children or in childcare setting.
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic academics and behavior characteristics of elementary students.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and assist Kids Club (KC) Supervisors with lesson plan implementation across activities.
• Support development of children's mental, physical, social, and emotional abilities using positive behavior strategies.
• Maintain safety and attendance counts; monitor environment and complete required documentation.
• Model positive behavior and implement SEL and PBIS strategies.
• Comply with district and KC policies, including confidentiality and inclusion practices.
• Prepare equipment and materials; assist with meals and snacks; notify supervisors about needs.
• Understand boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Participate in staff development activities and meetings.
• Maintain professionalism and equity for students, staff, and families.
• Other duties as assigned.
