Job summary

YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a Before and/or After School Site Supervisor for Suncoast Elementary School in Spring Hill, FL. You will oversee daily site operations, lead staff and volunteers, and ensure a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment aligned with YMCA values.

The role is non-exempt, part-time plus, with hours 6:30am-9:30am and 2:30pm-6:00pm; pay ranges from $17.00 to $20.85 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; SMIC qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare and staff supervision.
• CPR/AED and First Aid required within 90 days of hire.
• Florida Director Credential preferred; driving criteria met per YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement lesson plans focused on social-emotional learning, academic support, and enrichment.
• Monitor program quality and ensure compliance with state, county, and YMCA licensing requirements.
• Maintain accurate records for children, staff, and volunteers.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
• Facilitate weekly planning meetings and ensure alignment with YMCA core values and policies.
• Cultivate positive relationships with families, school staff, and community stakeholders.
• Represent the YMCA at school functions and in the local community.
• Assist in budget preparation; monitor site finances and control expenses.
• Handle fee collection and report balances weekly; support fundraising efforts.
• Ensure child protection and proper emergency response; maintain safe spaces.

Supervises: Before and/or After School Staff, Support Staff, and Volunteers

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Part-time Plus position (This is a benefited position)

Location: Suncoast Elementary School 11135 Quality Drive Spring Hill, FL 34609

Rate of pay: $17.00/hr - $20.85/hr

Shift: Monday - Friday hours vary 6:30am - 9:30 am and 2:30pm - 6:00pm

The Before and/or After School Site Director is responsible for the administration, leadership, and operation of a YMCA School-Age Program site. This role ensures all programming aligns with YMCA values, meets licensing requirements, supports youth development, and fosters strong relationships with children, families, staff, schools, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management

• Oversee daily operations of the site, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
• Design and implement lesson plans focused on social-emotional learning, academic support, and enrichment.
• Monitor program quality and ensure compliance with state, county, and YMCA licensing requirements.
• Maintain accurate records for children, staff, and volunteers.

Staff and Volunteer Leadership

• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
• Facilitate weekly planning meetings and ensure alignment with YMCA core values and policies.
• Use YMCA's Leadership Competency Model to build cause-driven leaders.

Family & Community Engagement

• Cultivate positive relationships with families, school staff, and community stakeholders.
• Represent the YMCA at school functions, PTA/SAC meetings, and in the local community.
• Serve as a connector to other YMCA programs and services.

Financial Management

• Assist in budget preparation; monitor site finances and control expenses.
• Manage fee collection and report balances weekly.
• Support fundraising efforts including Annual Campaign, volunteer recruitment, and special events.

Safety and Emergency Response

• Ensure child protection by reporting suspicious behavior and maintaining safe practices.
• Handle all emergency situations appropriately and document incidents accurately.
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free program spaces and equipment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a child-related field preferred. Meet qualifications to be a staff member in charge (SMIC). Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare and staff supervision. Knowledge of youth development practices and child behavior management.

Certifications

CPR/AED and First Aid required within 90 days of hire. Must complete state-mandated training (MODS) within 12 months. Florida Director Credential preferred. Must meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria. Lifeguard & Listen First certification preferred (if applicable).

Physical & Mental Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old. Capable of supervising large groups and managing active children. Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and sustain physical activity outdoors for extended periods. Must remain mentally alert and able to follow and give directions.
