Job summary

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a compassionate Before and After School Academy Counselor at Jerry Long Family YMCA in Clemmons, NC 27012. You will lead children in before- and after-school settings, guiding their development and implementing YMCA curriculum focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

The role requires strong communication with staff and parents, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related experience acceptable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• All online trainings and onboarding within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

• Lead children in before- and after-school settings at the assigned site
• Identify student needs and provide interactive guidance and leadership
• Maintain records (attendance, forms, etc.) and report as required
• Follow YMCA policies and safety procedures, complete incident reports as needed
• Build relationships with staff, students, parents and volunteers
• Participate in program planning, parent advisory meetings and class scheduling
