Job summary

YMCA of Northwest North Carolina's Stokes Family YMCA in King, NC is seeking a Seasonal Site Counselor to support before- and after-school programs. You will coordinate activities, prepare curriculum materials, maintain records, and ensure safety procedures are followed while building positive relationships with staff, families and participants.

The role requires flexibility with hours and a willingness to support swim activities when needed.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• All Online trainings, New Hire onboarding and ASHI Certifications within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to apply proactive team management techniques and employ conflict resolution with team as needed.
• Must be available for Out of School Days when school is closed and full day care is provided at the branch.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the site in accordance with YMCA guidelines and prepares curriculum/materials.
• Builds authentic relationships with staff, students and parents; engages volunteers.
• Maintains records such as attendance, site checklists and forms.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows YMCA policies, safety procedures and documents incidents as needed.
• Keeps the site organized and reports damaged equipment.
• Participates in aquatics activities during out of school time.
• Works with school personnel and YMCA staff, building professional relationships under supervision.
• Provides excellent customer service to parents and participants; assists with monthly reports and advisory meetings.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and be a proactive, reliable team member.
