Job summary

AlphaBEST Education’s Andrew Jackson Elementary School site in District Heights, MD is seeking a Site Director to lead the before- and after-school program. You will manage day-to-day operations, schedules, staffing, and documentation to ensure a safe, engaging, and high‑quality experience for students and families.

This role requires licensing readiness (90 hours) or equivalent credentials, strong leadership, and the ability to build partnerships with families, school staff, and AlphaBEST

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be registered and have full clearance from the state childcare licensing agency.
• Proof of experience as required by state childcare licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations: schedules, ratios, staffing, and documentation.
• Oversee curriculum implementation and ensure activities meet program expectations.
• Build a safe and inclusive environment aligned with licensing requirements and AlphaBEST standards.
• Make child safety the top priority at all times.
• Maintain licensing compliance, documentation, and readiness for inspections.
• Track and manage site resources, attendance, and food program requirements.
• Supervise and mentor your site team, providing coaching and feedback, and ensuring training requirements are met.
• Represent AlphaBEST with professionalism at school and community events.
• Build strong relationships with families, school staff, and AlphaBEST leadership to support student success.

Pay: $21.00

Hours: AM shift 7am-9am PM shift 3pm-6pm

• 90 Hour certification needed for licensing requirements- 45 hours growth and
• development 45 hours school age curriculum

Requirements:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED,
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs
• Must be registered and have full clearance from the state childcare licensing agency
• Proof of experience as required by state childcare licensing regulations (see below)

Proof of experience through ONE of the following options is required:

• Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA in a related field) or Associate's Degree (AS/AA in a related field)
• A 1-year state or nationally recognized credential (related to school-age care)
• Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college/university AND at least 1 year of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center (or comparable group care program)
• 2 or more years of qualifying teaching experience (with at least one year as a teacher) in a Certified Child Care Center (or comparable group care program)
• 90 Hour certification needed for licensing requirements- 45 hours growth and
• development 45 hours school age curriculum
