Job summary

Samena Swim & Recreation Club in Bellevue, WA is seeking a part-time Youth Program Aide to lead daily youth activities and assist with safe child supervision. The role includes transporting children by a 15-passenger van to local schools and bringing them back to the Samena facility.

Responsibilities encompass developing fun, educational activities, nurturing relationships with children, and maintaining a positive, safe environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in childcare preferred.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license required.
• 5-year clean driving record required.
• Clear portable background check required.
• CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications required.
• TB test and MMR vaccine or immunity proof required.
• Washington Food Handler’s Permit required.
• STARS certifications completed or provided by Samena.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist daily activities for youth, including games, arts & crafts, and free swim.
• Drive a 15-passenger van to local schools up to 5 hours weekly and return safely.
• Develop and implement new educational activities.
• Nurture relationships with children and maintain a safe environment.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and comply with licensing standards.
• Support special programs and events like Non-School Day Camp and Kids Night Out.
• Address conflicts using appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Maintain tidy facilities and adhere to Samena and state licensing standards.

Schedule

Positions available up to 20 hours per week, with potential for more hours seasonally during the summer.

• Weekdays 6:30am-9:15am and/or 2:30pm–6:45pm
• Wednesday’s schedule is 12:30–6:45pm
• Staff meeting monthly outside of regular hours (typically before afternoon shift begins)

• Lead and assist daily activities for youth, including indoor and outdoor games, arts & crafts, and free swim time.
• Drive school-age children in a 15-passenger van up to 5 hours a week from Samena to local schools and safely drive them back to our facility.
• Aid in the development and implementation of new, fun and educational activities.
• Nurture, care for and build strong personal relationships with each child.
• Maintain a positive, safe and healthy environment.
• Assist with special programs and club events, such as Non-School Day Camp and Kids Night Out.
• Handle minor youth conflicts using appropriate behavior management and child development techniques.
• Help maintain neat and clean environment according to Samena and state licensing standards.
• Maintain good standing in MERIT by following all state licensing requirements.
• Attend monthly staff meeting.

Qualifications

• 21 years old or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in childcare
• Valid Washington State driver’s license
• 5‑year clean driving record
• Ability to pass or provide proof of a clear portable background check
• CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
• Proof of negative TB test
• Proof of MMR vaccine or proof of immunity
• Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
• 30 hours STARS/Child Care Basics training certification
• 10 hours STARS professional development certification, annually
• Training provided and/or paid for by Samena.
