Job summary

Beef Research Project Coordinator at University of Nebraska–Lincoln will oversee beef nutrition experiments, data collection, and graduate student research activities. You will liaise with unit managers, manage cattle data and feed records, and help design and analyze nutrition trials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field with 3+ years of research experience OR Master’s with 1+ year of experience.
  • Experience in research data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Beef Feedlot Unit Manager for weighing, sorting, and assigning cattle to nutrition experiments.
  • Collect and record experimental data, cattle weights, feed records, and packing house data.
  • Assist beef nutrition faculty in designing nutrition experiments and formulating experimental rations.
  • Compile and statistically analyze data from experiments.
  • Procure special feed ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate research activities of graduate students at the Beef Feedlot Unit.

As the Beef Research Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate with Beef Feedlot Unit Manager, weighing, sorting, and allotting cattle on nutrition experiments.
  • Collect experimental data, cattle weights, feed records, and packing house data.
  • Assist beef nutrition faculty in the design of nutrition experiments and formulation of experimental rations.
  • Compile, summarize, and statistically analyze data from experiments.
  • Procure special feed ingredients and supplies.
  • Coordinate research of graduate students conducted at Beef Feedlot Unit.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field, plus three (3) years of research experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in animal science or related field plus one (1) year of research experience.
  • Project management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Substantial knowledge of the beef nutrition system and industry.
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Animal production experience preferred but not required.

Pre-Placement Driving Record Review Required: No

Physical Required: Yes

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
