Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Beef Research Project Coordinator to support nutrition experiments at the Beef Feedlot Unit. Coordinate cattle handling, data collection, and experimental design in collaboration with faculty.

This role involves data analysis, procurement of supplies, and coordinating graduate student research activities. Applicants should possess a strong background in beef nutrition, data analysis, and project management, with at least a bachelor’s degree in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field, plus three (3) years of research experience; OR Master’s degree in animal science or related field plus one (1) year of research experience.
• Project management and/or supervisory experience.
• Substantial knowledge of the beef nutrition system and industry.
• Experience with data and statistical analysis.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Beef Feedlot Unit Manager, weighing, sorting, and allotting of cattle on nutrition experiments.
• Collect experimental data, cattle weights, feed records and packing house data.
• Assist beef nutrition faculty in the design of nutrition experiments and formulation of experimental rations.
• Compile, summarize and statistically analyze data from experiments.
• Procure special feed ingredients and supplies.
• Coordinate research of graduate students conducted at Beef Feedlot Unit.
