Job summary

JBS Foods is seeking a Beef Modernization Sorter in Grand Island, NE. This role requires strong knife skills and observational ability to ensure proper pathology assessment, presentation and sanitary dressing standards.

Employees must work well in a fast-paced environment, adhere to Food Safety and Quality priorities, and participate in ongoing training. Candidates should be comfortable lifting and moving product and willing to train others as needed.

Qualifications

• Harvest floor knife experience required.
• Must be able to sharpen and maintain a sharp knife.
• Willingness to learn anatomy, physiology and disease processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Detail oriented and disciplined, able to stay focused.
• Physically capable of repetitive lifting and movement.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision knife cuts with accuracy on the harvest floor.
• Make decisions related to pathology, presentation or sanitary dressing deficiencies.
• Train and educate others as needed; follow Food Safety and Quality priorities.
• Collaborate with multiple harvest floor departments including inspectors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Beef Modernization Sorter

Job description:

A Beef Modernization Sorter must have strong observational abilities while performing precision knife cuts so they may make correct decisions related to pathology, presentation or possible sanitary dressing deficiencies. Beef Modernization Sorters work in a high-paced environment and must understand Food Safety and Quality are their primary responsibility. Beef Modernization Sorters undergo intensive and recurring training and must be willing to train/educate others.

Requirements:

• Harvest floor knife experience
• Ability to sharpen a knife and maintain a sharp knife
• Willingness to learn anatomy, physiology and pathological disease processes
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be detail oriented and disciplined
• Interested in work that challenges you mentally
• Ability to lift, push, and pull product repetitively
• Work effectively in a TEAM atmosphere
• All other duties as assigned

Beef Modernization Sorters work closely with many different harvest floor departments including USDA-FSIS Consumer Safety Inspectors.
