Job summary

Auburn's E. V. Smith Research Center in Shorter, Alabama seeks Agriculture Technician candidates to support beef cattle research tasks and daily farm duties. This on-site role encompasses animal husbandry, data recording, and maintenance within ongoing agricultural studies.

Qualifications include a HS diploma with progressive farming experience (Levels I–IV). Substitutions allowed by education, and CDL desired. A continuing contract supports long-term research efforts.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Level I–IV with increasing farming experience requirements.
• Level I: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Level II: HS diploma + 1 year farming experience.
• Level III: HS diploma + 4 years farming experience.
• Level IV: HS diploma + 6 years farming experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general farm and cattle duties.
• Provide day-to-day animal husbandry (food and water).
• Clean animal enclosures and facilities.
• Assist with breeding procedures and maintain research data.
• Observe animals and report health or welfare concerns.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment, buildings, and fences.
• Operate equipment such as tractors and feed mixers.
