Job summary

Auburn University’s Gulf Coast Research and Extension Center in Fairhope, Alabama, is seeking Agriculture Technician candidates to support ongoing agricultural research with basic farm and technical tasks.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining farm machinery, soil prep, planting, plot layout, crop harvesting, fertilizer and pesticide applications, as well as occasional livestock handling and light maintenance work. Level I–IV experience pathways apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of farming experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of farming experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of farming experience.
• A valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to selection.

Responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment in support of agricultural research.
• Assisting in soil preparation, planting, laying out research plots, harvesting row crops.
• Application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals.
• Assist in the production of horticulture crops such as vegetables, fruits and nuts; occasional handling of livestock.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Some light construction, building maintenance, and irrigation system repair and maintenance will also be expected when needed.
