Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Placement Supervisor to function as an advanced Patient Placement Coordinator, leading the department when the nurse manager is unavailable and ensuring efficient bed utilization.

The role includes coordinating with hospital leadership on bed placement, admissions, transfers, and census management, while maintaining confidentiality and high service standards in a high-stress setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or five years of equivalent experience.
• One year or more of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists manager with day-to-day operations of Patient Placement and assumes full responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager.
• Supervises and directs Patient Placement personnel; staffing decisions, disciplinary action, hiring, performance standards, and feedback.
• Coordinates with Patient Placement staff and other departments to determine patient placement needs.
• Manages complicated patient placement needs; stays informed on bed capacity and admissions.
• Participates in budget processes and recommends budgets and adjustments.
• Trains staff in Patient Placement processes and functions.
• Collects and summarizes bed utilization data and monitors department reports for improvements.
• Escalates issues and participates in solution formulation; maintains professional relations with customers.
