Job summary

Northwell Career Site is seeking a Per Diem On-Call Bed Management Clerk to assign patient bed placements and coordinate with hospital teams. You will review orders and communicate bed needs during daily staffing and surge planning.

This on-call per diem role does not include benefits; a High School diploma and 1–3 years of relevant experience are required; hospital and insurance-verification experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification preferred.
• Per diem role, on-call, no benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and facilitates patient bed assignments according to hospital patient aggregation.
• Accepts phone calls from attending physician offices for direct admissions. Reviews orders that may impact bed placement (e.g., one-on-one observation, telemetry needs, pending lab specimens, admit orders for medicine teams).
• Collects data for Zone alerts (admissions, discharges, bed demands/availability status of surge units, etc.).
• Collates data from Teletracking to provide information needed for daily bed meeting template.
• Escalates bed management problems to a registered nurse.

• Accepts phone calls from attending physician offices for direct admissions Reviews specific orders that may impact bed placement (i.e.: one-on-one constant observation, telemetry needs, pending lab specimens, admit orders for medicine teams).
• Collects data for Zone alerts (admissions, discharges, bed demands/availability status of surge units, etc.).
• Collates data from Teletracking to provide information needed for daily bed meeting template.
• Escalates bed management problems to a registered nurse.
