Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Bed Flow/Staffing Coordinator to optimize daily nurse staffing and patient location assignments across the Multispecialty and Research Hospital.

The role promotes safe, efficient patient access, flow and discharge by triaging requests, coordinating transfers, and supporting bed management with accurate records and collaboration with nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• Two years of RN experience in acute care required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates staffing and patient placement decisions with nursing leadership.
• Monitors bed availability and escalates needs for additional resources.
• Triages requests for internal access points (ACC, OR, inpatient units) and coordinates transfers.
• Provides patient information to clinical teams for care planning.
• Participates in capacity meetings and maintains accurate records.
• Reconciles hospital census and ensures correct bed assignments in the system.
• Implements staffing plans to ensure safe patient delivery and communicates gaps to leadership.
• Manages call-off logs and staffing changes as needed.
• Supports quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
