Responsibilities:
- Processing Transactions:
- Operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, debit, and gift card transactions accurately.
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases.
- Address customer questions, issues, and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ensure that all forms of payment are processed properly and securely.
- Ensure correct amounts of change are given back to customers.
- Regularly count the cash drawer to ensure accuracy.
- Report any discrepancies or issues with cash handling to a supervisor.
- Properly bag and package items for customers, ensuring fragile items are handled with care.
- Make sure to follow store policies regarding item returns or exchanges.
- Monitoring Stock and Inventory:
- Check stock levels and alert supervisors if inventory is low or needs replenishment.
- Occasionally assist with restocking shelves or organizing merchandise near the cash register.
- Keeping the Checkout Area Organized:
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to ensure smooth operations.
- Make sure all necessary supplies (like bags, receipt paper, and change) are available.
- Upselling and Promotions:
- Suggest add-on items or promotions to customers in a polite and non-intrusive manner.
- Provide customers with information on current sales, discounts, or loyalty programs.
- Following Store Policies and Procedures:
- Adhere to all company policies related to cash handling, customer service, and safety.
- Ensure all transactions comply with store regulations and security measures.
