Job Objectives

Maximize sales and brand awareness by providing exceptional customer care in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. Offer impartial, personalized advice and expertise regardless of brand and budget. Demonstrate a passion for beauty and wellness, providing inspirational knowledge and solutions such as mini-makeovers and skincare consultations, emphasizing the customers’ overall look. Model and deliver a distinctive, delightful customer experience. Oversee and maintain overall beauty department standards.

Job Responsibilities/Tasks

Customer Experience
  • Greet customers and offer assistance with products and services. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Share customer care best practices by proactively offering assistance, asking questions to identify needs, and informing customers of options.
  • Engage with customers to identify their needs, suggest appropriate products and services, and facilitate warm transfers when necessary.
  • Provide product demonstrations and consultations using tools like the Skin Hydrometer and tablets.
  • Lead and participate in in-store events to promote brand awareness and loyalty.
  • Build genuine relationships with customers, providing authentic closure and fostering ongoing engagement.
  • Utilize omni-channel solutions to enhance the customer experience.
  • Locate products in other stores or online if unavailable locally.
Operations
  • Achieve or surpass sales goals by assisting customers and modeling exceptional care.
  • Review beauty business performance regularly in collaboration with store leadership.
  • Focus on cross-selling and up-selling by showcasing sale items and complementary products.
  • Use testers and samples to demonstrate products and promote promotional programs.
  • Maintain hygiene standards for testers and keep the department clean and organized.
  • Implement asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Process sales transactions accurately.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions related to programs, promotions, and brand launches.
  • Maintain knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with laws regarding regulated products.
  • Follow all company policies and foster respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete assigned special tasks.
Training & Personal Development
  • Monitor personal performance, set high standards, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Attend training, seminars, and knowledge-sharing sessions, and educate team members on new updates.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per company guidelines.
  • Share knowledge and assist in training new team members.
  • Collaborate with store leadership to review goals and improve product knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and at least one year of retail sales experience with sales goals OR experience selling beauty/cosmetics and providing customer care.
  • Ability to work independently to meet objectives and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Knowledge of beauty products and brands.
  • Experience building relationships within teams.
  • Basic PC/tablet skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Cosmetology or Esthetician license as required by state.
  • Experience with makeup application and providing makeovers.
  • Experience selling Prestige brands and a degree from Beauty School preferred.
  • Externship experience with other retailers is a plus.
