Job summary

The Jewish Association on Aging is seeking a Beautician to provide salon services to residents in Pittsburgh's upscale personal care community. This contracted position involves planning and implementing hair care and beauty services, as well as supporting the Memory Care Community.

Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, cutting and styling hair, and communicating effectively with residents and families. A current cosmetology license and effective communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Current Cosmetology license is required.
• Must demonstrate sensitivity to, empathy for, and an interest in the elderly.
• Effective communication skills necessary.

Responsibilities

Job Description

This is a contracted position with the opportunity to provide salon services to residents in our new and beautiful community salon. The Beautician is responsible for planning and implementing hair care/beauty services for the residents of our upscale personal care community as well as providing services to our Memory Care Community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• scheduling and maintaining appointments
• cut, style, color, perm residents' hair
• provide waxing/hair removal services
• perform manicures/pedicures
• Communicate effectively/compassionately with residents and families
• Communicate effectively with staff

Required Education, Training and Experience

• Current Cosmetology license.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Must demonstrate sensitivity to, empathy for, and an interest in the elderly and those with cognitive impairments
• Effective communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Lifting: Regularly move patients in wheel chairs and equipment.
• Carrying: Carries supplies, and other items, weighing up to twenty pounds.
• Pushing/Pulling: Pushing and pulling is required when conducting hair/nail services.
• Bending: Required when conducting hair/nail services.
• Reaching/Turning/Twisting: May be required when conducting hair/nail services.
• Repetitive Motions: Hands: required for certain aspects of hair/nail services: Simple grasping and fine manipulation.
• Feet: Ability to walk and stand for various duties.
