Job summary

Nassawadox Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a skilled Beautician to provide beauty and grooming services tailored for elderly residents. You will help boost self-esteem, comfort, and well-being during appointments in a compassionate, respectful setting.

The role emphasizes hair care, basic grooming, and maintaining dignity for residents in a long‑term care facility. Experience with seniors is preferred, with infection control and sanitation as core requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid and current Cosmetology License in Virginia.
• Experience with elderly or disabled individuals preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring demeanor.
• Ability to lift light objects and assist residents safely.
• Familiarity with infection control and sanitation standards.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide hair care services including haircuts, shampooing, styling, coloring, and perming as appropriate for elderly clients.
• Offer manicures and basic skin care and facial grooming if licensed.
• Create a warm, safe, and respectful environment for residents during appointments.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in compliance with state and facility guidelines.
• Manage appointment schedules in coordination with nursing and activity staff.
• Monitor and report any changes in resident’s scalp, skin, or general health to nursing staff.
• Ensure proper sanitation of tools and equipment after each use.
• Maintain inventory of beauty supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
• Communicate effectively and patiently with residents, some of whom may have physical or cognitive limitations.

Environment:

Work will be performed primarily indoors at one of our long-term healthcare facilities, throughout all areas, including in

resident rooms, and on carpeted and/or tiled floors. Work will be performed there routinely around other co-workers, healthcare staff, residents, and guests. Due to the nature of facility’s business, worker may be exposed to occasional slippery floors, object on floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials and waste (including human), blood borne pathogens, and communicable diseases, as well as high-stress medical and/or life threatening situations.
