Job summary

Masis Professional Group is seeking a Bearings Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the Worcester, MA area to lead the engineering department and drive development and production of high‑quality bearing products. You will manage a team of six engineers, collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Tool Room and Customer Service, and implement SOPs, tooling improvements, and cost‑saving initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Tooling experience within a fabrication or metal‑manufacturing environment.
  • Strong SolidWorks and design for manufacturability and assembly experience.
  • ISO 9001 experience.
  • Lean, Kaizen, or other continuous‑improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and run the Engineering department.
  • Manage a team of six engineers.
  • Report to the Chief Engineer.
  • Provide technical leadership to the engineering team and collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Tool Room, and Customer Service.
  • Develop SOPs and set up machine programs.
  • Support customer product development and prototyping.
  • Complete quoting and costing.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve tooling and production processes, control costs, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.

Job description

Masis Professional Group is seeking a Bearings Manufacturing Engineering Manager for our client in the Worcester, MA area. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The Bearings Manufacturing Engineering Manager will run the engineering department, manage a team of six engineers, and report to the Chief Engineer. The manager will provide technical leadership to the engineering team while working closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Tool Room, and Customer Service to ensure the successful development and production of high-quality bearing products.

The engineering team is responsible for developing SOPs, setting up machine programs, supporting customer product development and prototyping, and completing quoting and costing. This manager will also work closely with manufacturing to improve tooling and production processes, control costs, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency

This role requires extensive knowledge of bearing design, metal stamping, machining, assembly processes, tooling design, and manufacturing engineering principles. There will be a collaborative team approach when designing formed or stamped bearing components with other engineers and toolmakers, particularly when new tooling is required.

The ideal candidate will have
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience
  • Tooling experience within a fabrication or metal‑manufacturing environment
  • Strong SolidWorks and design for manufacturability and assembly experience
  • ISO 9001 experience
  • Lean, Kaizen, or other continuous‑improvement experience
Power transmission industry experience
  • Bearings and bearing housings

  • Idlers and conveyor components
Job Skills and Abilities
  • Strong technical and computer skills including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of bearing design and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of assembly, machining, heat treating, metal stamping, and tooling design.
  • Understanding of case hardening and heat‑treating processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Establish priorities and assign engineering resources to support customer requirements and production needs.
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and technical personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
  • Participate in succession planning and workforce development activities.
