Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a mechanically inclined Engineered Systems Technician to support the Mechanical Diagnostics Team. The role involves troubleshooting, maintaining and rebuilding intricate electro‑mechanical devices used to monitor beamlines for safe accelerator operation.

The position requires ability to work odd hours, in radiation areas, and to communicate effectively with scientists and engineers while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate degree with 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience reading electrical/mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and rebuild mechanical and electrical systems of diagnostic devices.
• Support 24/7 beam operation including overtime and on-call duties.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers and technicians within and outside the team.
• Follow instructions closely and escalate to supervisors when in doubt.
