Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks an R&D Engineer 3 to advance diagnostics systems for the LANSCE accelerator, including beam position monitors, harps, wire scanners, and related components. You will design, analyze, and direct maintenance projects across diagnostics systems with CAD tools.

The role requires a Master's in Engineering (PhD preferred) and strong collaboration with scientists and technologists. Onsite work with a rigorous clearance environment is indicated.

Qualifications

• Experience with diagnostics devices used in accelerator systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with CAD/CAM tools, especially SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze diagnostics and accelerator components, and lead maintenance/improvement projects.
• Conduct experiments and validation for thermohydraulic or structural work as needed.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians to deliver high-impact R&D results.
