Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory's Data Acquisition and Detectors (DAD) group seeks a System Integration Engineer to turn beamline science requirements into reliable data workflows and computing infrastructure.

You will configure, deploy, test, and troubleshoot end-to-end data pipelines, collaborate with beamline scientists and software engineers, and grow expertise in distributed computing, EPICS, and modern data-analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics, or related field.
• Foundational software development or scripting experience, preferably Python.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix computing environments and distributed computing concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems across an integrated system.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Understand scientific, operational and technical requirements for data acquisition, access, processing, and analysis.
• Integrate, configure, deploy, test, and troubleshoot DAD software and infrastructure in beamline environments.
• Support end-to-end beamline data workflows from experimental data acquisition through data movement, storage, access, processing and analysis.
