The City of Norfolk’s Public Works department is seeking a Refuse Collector Assistant to support coastal and beach area cleanup under the BEACH program. You will assist with refuse and recycling collection, participate in community education, operate light-duty vehicles, and aid in special events and cleanup tasks.

Hours include day shifts, with weekend/holiday work, and a benefits package for regular employees. CDL is preferred and entry testing is required.

Competenze

• Ability to read and understand written instructions.
• Experience supporting environmental/groundskeeping operations is a plus.
• Ability to assist with collections and events in a city context.

Mansioni

• Assist with collection and disposal of refuse, recyclables, and debris in beach and coastal areas.
• Operate light-duty utility vehicles (e.g., Kubota) safely.
• Support BEACH Strike Team in environmental education and event setup.
• Remove dead animals from streets and properties.
• Participate in community cleanup events and campaigns.
• Complete basic logs and documentation as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of public access areas and receptacles.
• Assist in BEAC H operations during emergencies and storms.
