Job description

Travel: Approximately 25% across North America, plus occasional international travel

Sector: SaaS | Geospatial / Earth Observation

The Opportunity

We're working with a fast-growing technology company that uses satellite data, AI and advanced analytics to help organisations responsible for critical infrastructure operate more safely, efficiently and sustainably.

As the business expands across North America, they are looking for a Business Development Team Lead to take a key role in building pipeline across the US market.

This is a genuine player-coach position. You'll lead and develop a growing BDR team while continuing to prospect and generate opportunities yourself. You'll work closely with regional sales leadership, marketing and technical teams to break into strategic accounts across sectors such as electric utilities, energy infrastructure and midstream pipelines.

If you enjoy building teams but still want to be close to customers, outbound strategy and pipeline creation, this could be an excellent next step.

What You'll Be Doing
Lead & Develop the BDR Team
  • Manage, coach and develop a small team of Business Development Representatives.
  • Set clear expectations around activity, pipeline creation and performance.
  • Run regular 1:1s, call reviews, live coaching and development sessions.
  • Help team members improve their prospecting, messaging and account penetration skills.
  • Support the hiring, onboarding and ramp-up of new BDRs as the North American operation grows.
  • Build a culture centred around accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Stay Hands-On With Pipeline Generation

This isn't a management-only position. You'll own an individual pipeline target alongside the team.

  • Prospect into named enterprise and strategic accounts.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across utilities and other asset-intensive infrastructure organisations.
  • Execute multichannel outbound campaigns using phone, email, LinkedIn and events.
  • Experiment with new messaging, sequences and prospecting approaches before scaling successful plays across the team.
  • Attend relevant industry conferences and trade shows, generating conversations and meetings with prospective customers.
Shape the North American Outbound Strategy
  • Develop pipeline-generation strategies tailored to the US and wider North American market.
  • Identify market, regulatory and industry events that create compelling reasons to engage prospects.
  • Turn ICP insights and campaign performance into more effective outbound messaging.
  • Contribute to quarterly pipeline planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing and Pre-Sales to improve account penetration and conversion.
Improve the BDR Tech Stack
  • Take ownership of the team's sales engagement tools and workflows.
  • Ensure CRM, prospecting and sequencing platforms are being used effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to automate or simplify processes.
  • Work with Revenue Operations and IT to evaluate new tools, integrations and workflows.
What We're Looking For

You'll ideally bring:

  • 3+ years' experience in B2B business development or sales development, ideally within enterprise technology.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience, whether as a Team Lead, Senior BDR/SDR, player-coach or BDR/SDR Manager.
  • Previous hands-on prospecting experience into utilities, energy, oil & gas, midstream pipelines, rail or another critical-infrastructure market.
  • A measurable track record of personally generating qualified enterprise pipeline.
  • The desire to remain hands-on with outbound rather than moving into a purely people-management role.
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to improve individual and team performance.
  • Experience working with CRM and sales engagement platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging stakeholders across complex enterprise organisations.
  • Willingness to travel across North America for industry events and conferences.
Why Consider This Role?

This is an opportunity to join a growing technology business at a stage where you can have a significant influence on its North American commercial operation.

You’ll have the autonomy to build, test and improve the outbound motion, develop a growing team and still personally work strategic accounts. The technology also addresses tangible infrastructure challenges, including improving asset resilience, reducing operational risk and helping organisations manage large physical networks more effectively.

For someone who wants the next step beyond a Senior BDR or Team Lead position without giving up the hands-on side of business development, this role offers a strong combination of leadership, ownership and enterprise selling.
