Job summary

  • Active FINRA Series 6 registration required; Series 7 preferred.

What You'll Do

As a BD Customer Experience Specialist I, you'll support all needs and questions of business unit, registered representatives, and clients within our Broker Dealer Services space, to ensure information is complete, precise, communicated, and maintained.

Here's a few examples of the things you'll do:

  • Provide daily phone and chat support to Principal Financial Network's financial professionals and clients related to brokerage accounts that hold a wide array of securities. A team member handles their own case load and will respond to questions and resolve problems relating to potential and existing customer accounts, completed trades, money movement, compliance regulations, available products, and industry information. A team member also provides phone support related to broker dealer questions on direct held accounts. Phone volumes will have seasonal variance, but a team member can expect to handle approximately 40-50 calls per day. Provide quality customer service by providing detailed, accurate, and timely communications.
  • Provide system assistance and proactively educates financial professionals and clients on software used to enter trades, view accounts, obtain research, and manage portfolios. Encourage users to learn new functionality and help them to submit orders through the system.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required including responding to incoming emails from financial professionals and customers.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Customer service, organizational and telephone skills required.
  • Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills, including telephone communication experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work in a team environment, able to multi-task, detail oriented and able to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Requires basic computer skills with the ability to efficiently navigate within numerous software and web applications.
  • Must have ability to acquire strong knowledge of business unit products, processes, and systems.
  • Broker Dealer experience is a plus.
  • Call center experience is preferred but not required.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours to meet customer needs.
  • Active FINRA Series 6 registration required; Series 7 registration preferred.
Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$20.34 - $36.35 / hour

Salary Details

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies.

  • Wichita, KS: $20.34 - $27.26 / hour
  • Des Moines, IA: $21.47 - $28.77 / hour
  • Charlotte, NC: $22.60 - $30.29 / hour
  • Chicago/Minneapolis: $24.86 - $33.32 / hour
  • Los Angeles/New York City: $27.12 - $36.35 / hour
Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements.

Hours

Monday - Thursday 9:15am-6pm CST and Friday 8:15am-5pm CST

Training will be Monday - Friday 8am-5pm CST (approximately 6 weeks)
