Job summary

Community Autism Services is seeking a Special Education Teacher in Athens, Alabama to deliver individualized instruction for students with disabilities in a high-acuity, school-based setting.

You will collaborate with BCBAs, paraprofessionals, families, and related service providers to implement IEPs, monitor progress, and apply evidence-based strategies such as DTT and AAC, while building strong relationships and maintaining clear expectations.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in the appropriate special education teaching field and grade range
• Bachelor's degree or higher and ALSDE certification requirements for the pathway
• Alternative certification routes may be considered when eligible
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and classroom management skills
• Experience with autism or significant behavioral needs preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in line with Alabama and federal requirements
• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams during IEP meetings and planning
• Establish measurable annual goals across academics, behavior, and communication
• Deliver structured, individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learning profiles and support AAC systems
