General Motors seeks a software engineering leader to modernize and scale its embedded build systems, migrating from legacy Make to Bazel while improving speed and reliability. You will define migration strategies, design reusable Bazel rules, and integrate with enterprise CI/CD, testing, and security workflows to support safety-critical automotive software.

The role requires deep real-time software expertise, leadership across teams, and a track record of delivering production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
• 15 years of software development experience.
• Deep understanding of real-time software architecture.
• Experience shipping high quality safety-critical products.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
• Strong expertise building production software systems, Python and engineering tooling languages.
• Automotive/embedded/safety-related toolchains experience.
• Large-scale migration from Make to Bazel.
• Experience with AI-assisted developer productivity tools.
