Job summary

NBC Bay Area is looking for an experienced, versatile journalist who can report and tell compelling stories across television, streaming, digital and social platforms. This true multiplatform role requires a proven track record in both broadcast reporting and digital storytelling, with ability to report live from the scene and independently produce a television story.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist and social-native storyteller who understands audiences consume news differently

Qualifications

• Proven track record in broadcast and digital/social journalism.
• Excellent on-camera reporting and live-field experience.
• Ability to independently report, shoot, write, edit and publish a TV news story.
• Experience creating social-first video content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
• Strong editorial judgment and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Report, shoot, write and edit general assignment and breaking news stories for NBC Bay Area in an MMJ role as needed.
• Report and produce original journalism for NBC Bay Area's digital, streaming and social platforms.
• Develop and front social-first news briefs and short-form video content for social platforms.
• Provide fast social-first coverage of breaking news and major local stories from field and newsroom.
• Develop social explainer content that breaks down complex topics for audiences.
