Job summary

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in the Bay Area seeks a California Assistant Managing Attorney to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bay Area Managing Attorney’s Office and supervise the Senior Assistant Managing Clerk.

The position requires a Juris Doctorate, California bar admission, and several years of experience in litigation or related administrative leadership, with a strong understanding of federal and state procedural rules. Competitive base salary and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree required.
• Admission to the California bar; admission to local federal courts preferable but not required.
• At least 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney focusing on litigation or 5+ years in a senior administrative legal role with management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Bay Area Managing Attorney’s Office.
• Supervise docketing/calendaring and filing/service of litigation documents.
• Provide attorneys with guidance on federal, state, and local court rules and practices.
• Review draft litigation documents for compliance with rules.
• Research court dockets and public records as requested.
• Act as liaison with court personnel.
