Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Space Domain Awareness professional in Chantilly, VA to monitor tools, assess threats, and advise on space event responses. You will lead event characterization, coordinate with mission partners, and deliver leadership briefings with appropriate classifications.

Qualified candidates hold an advanced degree or equivalent experience and have 7–10 years in space domain or mission protection roles, plus experience in producing briefings and coordinating跨-mission responses.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor SDA tools, threat reporting, and cues to identify space events and I&W.
  • Maintain RSO custody and reconcile data across sources.
  • Lead event characterization and provide COA recommendations to leadership.
  • Execute checklists and coordinate with partners to deconflict actions.
  • Deliver routine and ad hoc leadership briefings with proper classification markings.
  • Analyze events and tool performance to suggest updates to TTPs, thresholds, or workflows.
  • Mentor junior operators and perform quality checks on products.
  • Participate in test events to integrate new capabilities and validate procedures.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Independently monitor and assess SDA tools, threat reporting, and operational cues to identify significant space events and I&W.
  • Maintain and validate RSO custody for high-interest objects; reconcile discrepancies across approved data sources and document assumptions.
  • Lead event characterization (pattern-of-life, behavior changes, timelines, confidence) and provide COA recommendations to mission leadership.
  • Initiate and execute checklist responses when criteria are met; coordinate with mission partners to deconflict actions and report impacts.
  • Develop and deliver routine and ad hoc briefings for leadership, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and proper classification markings.
  • Support operational assessments by analyzing recurring events and tool performance; recommend updates to TTPs, thresholds, or workflows.
  • Mentor junior operators during shifts and live events; provide on-the-job training and perform quality checks on products.
  • Support integration and operational employment of new capabilities by participating in test events, documenting findings, and validating procedures.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise OR Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise OR no degree and 10 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise.
  • Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with adjudicated polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience performing space domain awareness, space operations, or mission protection functions in a high-tempo environment.
  • Demonstrated experience producing operational reporting/briefings and coordinating responses across mission partners.
