Are you friendly, reliable, and enjoy meeting new people? Would you like to gain new skills, gain retail experience, build confidence, and support a fantastic local cause? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our team at the St Michael’s Hospice shop in Battle.

Our Battle shop sits at the heart of a busy and supportive community. Volunteers are a key part of what makes the shop such a welcoming place for customers, donors and visitors alike. By volunteering with us, you’ll help raise vital funds that enable St Michael’s Hospice to continue providing compassionate care and support to local people and their families.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same in our busy charity shop. You could be:

• Greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
• Sorting, sizing, pricing and displaying donated items.
• Operating the till and processing cash and card transactions.
• Creating attractive window and in-store displays.
• Keeping the shop clean, tidy and appealing to customers.
• Promoting the work of St Michael’s Hospice.
• Supporting the Shop Manager and wider volunteer team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

• Friendly, approachable and enjoy meeting people.
• Good communicators with strong teamwork skills.
• Reliable with good timekeeping.
• Willing to learn and develop new skills.
• Able to work independently when needed and follow guidance from the team.
• Positive, enthusiastic and keen to make a difference.

Retail or customer service experience is welcome but not essential, as training and support will be provided.

We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of one half-day shift per week, and we’ll work with you to find a volunteering pattern that suits your availability.

Availability

We currently have a range of volunteering opportunities available at our Battle shop. Whether you’re looking for a regular weekly shift or can offer occasional support, we’d love to hear from you.

• Typical shifts: 10.00am to 1.00pm and 1.00pm to 4.00pm
• Weekday opportunities available
• Commitment: A minimum of one half-day shift per week
