Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a TEST ENGINEER, BATTERY DEVELOPMENT to join the Battery Test group. You will design, fabricate, and implement comprehensive battery test equipment and lead pack-level development tests to ensure reliability, safety, and performance of battery systems across programs like Starship, Dragon, and Starlink.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, mechanical engineering background, and ability to work in fast-paced environments with rigorous safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering field.
• 1+ years of hands-on testing experience (internships, clubs or other hands-on activities qualify).

Responsibilities

• Create test fixturing concepts and drawings for rapid development of battery packs.
• Own test campaigns from plan to data review and equipment maintenance.
• Establish safety protocols for high voltage and destructive battery tests.
• Direct technicians to fabricate and integrate test articles and stand equipment.
• Develop and maintain test procedures, scripts, and configuration files.
• Operate data acquisition and control systems and troubleshoot instrumentation.
