Job summary

Henpen Corporation is seeking a Development Chemist to advance battery separator technologies from R&D to commercial production. You will develop and optimize formulations, run DOE studies, and support extrusion and coating processes for lead-acid battery applications.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in polymer/separator development, hands-on materials characterization, and cross-functional collaboration to drive scale-up and process improvement within a confidential manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science.
  • 5+ years of product development in polymers or separator tech.
  • Experience with PE separators, porous membranes, AGM, or related materials.
  • Hands-on extrusion, polymer processing, coating, and DOE.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize formulations for battery separator materials.
  • Improve separator performance and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design DOE experiments and analyze results.
  • Support extrusion, coating, and polymer processing workstreams.
  • Evaluate permeability, pore structure, mechanical and electrical properties.
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations to scale.
