Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Battery Pack Program Engineer to oversee the development of Battery Pack programs across Ford North American sites, aligning with GPDS milestones and targets. You will lead a team of engineers, manage budgets, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget program delivery.

The role requires a strong engineering background, 10+ years in Manufacturing, supplier management, and travel up to 75% during installs and launches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience managing suppliers and placing complex orders.
  • Strong Project Leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and project management when interacting with plant, unions, suppliers, PD, etc.

Job description

Battery Pack Program Engineer

To oversee the development of Battery Pack programs across Ford North American Sites ensuring Alignment with the Bill of process and leading the delivery of Ford’s Global Product Development System (“GPDS”) milestones and program targets, including timing, process, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver battery programs safely on time, at cost, with quality from to launch / ROC
  • Lead a team of program/process/test engineers through program milestones ensuring deliverable completion
  • Manage BME support groups (Process, Test, Digital Assembly, IE, Ergo)
  • Interface with critical x-functional teams (PD, MSAP, Fordland, MP&L, STA, GME, NML, MFG QUAL, IT, PURCH, B&F)
  • Own the master program schedule, coordinating engineering teams & suppliers to complete milestones on time
  • Track program progress against schedule and drive actions to maintain launch timing and transition plan
  • Manage equipment delivery, runoff, shipment, installation, commissioning, and build event timing
  • Lead x-functional discussions to facilitate issue resolution and remove roadblocks impacting critical-path activities.
  • Drive the completion of all phases of MIDAS (Machine Identification Acceptance System) approvals from the relevant engineers and plant operations.
  • Own master program financial commitment curves and funding plans with engineering teams.
  • Manage budgets, purchase orders, cost reviews, and financial reporting for program reviews.
  • Manage prototype and spare-part procurement, including lead times, ordering, tracking, and delivery.
  • Manage change requests and study activities, including cost, timing, and issue impact assessments.
  • Lead regular occurring program meetings to review status, issues, action items, risks and key developments.
  • Maintain internal and external program SharePoint sites, documentation, and user access.
  • Visit suppliers to review timing, equipment design, build progress, and runoff readiness.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites to support equipment install, commissioning, pre-production and production builds.
  • Lead site-based engineers throughout the delivery of equipment to production readiness.
  • Utilize the necessary program tools and software (JIRA, Smartsheet, Global Integrator, MIDAS, iERP, PFR, etc.)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years of Manufacturing experience (ex. Machine design knowledge)
Experience managing suppliers, placing complex/detailed orders
Strong Project Leadership skills
Excellent communication and project management skills when interacting with plant, union, suppliers, PD, etc
Self-starting, self-motivated individual with a learning and growth mindset.
Results-oriented mind set
Strong organizational, communication, and influencing skills.
Ability to travel up to 75% during Install, Commissioning, and Launch phases.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
