Job summary

American Battery Technology Company in Reno, NV seeks a Chemical Production Engineer to sustain and improve our lithium-ion battery recycling and refining processes. You will join the Chemical Process team, respond to equipment issues, and drive next-gen improvements for uptime and throughput.

You will help commission and startup first-in-kind systems, generate essential process documents, and collaborate with vendors to align on equipment for pilot and commercial operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting and commissioning process equipment.
• Experience implementing data-driven improvements (DOE, Change Management).
• Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
• Experience troubleshooting safety systems for manufacturing lines.
• Experience implementing HAZOP, FMEA for plant design & operations.

Responsibilities

• Sustain 24/7 production operations by responding to and recovering malfunctioning equipment and processes.
• Support commissioning and startup activities for first-in-kind battery recycling and lithium refining processes.
• Implement process improvement projects to improve yield, uptime, product quality, and reduce OpEx.
• Author documentation such as Operating Procedures, Preventative Maintenance Plans, Spare Parts Lists, etc.
• Investigate underperforming equipment and processes; implement changes to improve OEE.
• Produce PFDs, P&IDs, Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment Specs for process changes and improvements.
• Collaborate with vendors on equipment for pilot and commercial processes.
• Document lessons learned from commissioning and operations and feed forward into next-gen tech and designs.
• Review and update equipment records (Data, P&IDs, Controls Narratives, Wiring/Loop diagrams).
