American Battery Technology Company in Reno, NV seeks a Staff Metallurgical Engineer to lead R&D on lithium-ion battery recycling, resource extraction, and purification. Collaborate with lab, engineering, and operations to design and scale metallurgical systems from bench to pilot; emphasize hydrometallurgy, material processing, and analytical testing for quality and efficiency. Qualifications

• BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mineral/Particle Processing or related field.
• Strong hydrometallurgical and mineral/particle processing background.
• Laboratory skills: wet chemistry and mineral/particle processing.
• Familiar with metallurgical analytical tools (ICP-OES, TGA, PSA, XRD).
• Understanding of surface chemistry and dewatering methods.
• Experience in designing and testing mineral/particle processing circuits.
• Data analysis and interpretation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory support for R&D of primary resource extraction and purification and battery recycling systems from laboratory to pilot and commercial scales.
• Design and conduct experiments to develop novel processing routes for extracting lithium from claystone and refining to battery-grade specs.
• Coordinate studies with internal and external collaborators on next-gen recycling technologies.
• Optimize test work of process chemistries and mineral/particle processing circuits.
• Develop flowsheets for primary and secondary resource processing.
• Provide technical feedback to operations and engineering on metallurgy and particle processing fundamentals.
