Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann Company, is seeking an entry‑level Battery Cell Process Engineer in Mountain View to support laboratory‑scale development and prototyping. You will assist senior engineers with pilot‑line operations, pouch cell assembly, and process improvements, while maintaining thorough documentation.

The role requires a relevant degree and hands‑on lab experience, including exposure to lithium‑ion processes and glove‑box environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience with laboratory battery manufacturing, pilot‑line equipment, or pouch cell assembly.
• Experience in lab, cleanroom, dry‑room, or glove‑box environments handling chemicals and battery materials.
• Familiarity with lithium‑ion cell manufacturing processes (slurry prep, coating, calendaring, stacking, electrolyte filling, sealing).
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory‑scale pouch cell production, including slurry preparation, electrode coating, calendaring, stacking, and pouch sealing.
• Operate, inspect, calibrate, and maintain pilot‑line equipment and related facilities.
• Assist with Design of Experiments (DOEs) to improve cell consistency, yield, and performance.
• Conduct in‑process quality checks and record results in tracking systems.
• Investigate fabrication issues and support corrective actions under senior engineering guidance.
• Maintain assembly travelers, process records, SOPs, safety documentation, and other technical docs.
