Job summary

General Motors is hiring a Battery Cell Electrochemistry Analysis Engineer to advance battery cell design through electrochemical modeling and data science. The role involves multi-physics simulations, aging mechanisms, and collaboration across engineering teams.

You will use COMSOL, MATLAB/SIMULINK, SABER, Python, and PyBaMM to develop models, support vehicle co-sims, and guide design decisions for range, charging, and safety.

Qualifications

• BSE in Chemical, Electrical, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering required; Chemical Eng. preferred.
• Strong knowledge of modeling processes and physics-based degradation mechanisms.
• Experience in battery modeling & analysis in industry (2+ years).

Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, and maintain physiochemical, electrochemical, thermal, and safety models for battery cells.
• Incorporate aging, variation, and thermal behavior into simulation frameworks.
• Release models into vehicle co-sims for calibration, diagnostics, and controls.
• Document model assumptions and usage for cross-functional teams.
