Job summary

Soelect, Inc. in Greensboro, NC, is seeking a highly skilled battery R&D professional with an advanced degree and substantial post-degree experience in lithium-ion battery materials to lead design, testing, and interpretation to identify feasible cell chemistries and degradation mechanisms.

The position emphasizes IP generation, technical leadership of a small to mid-size research team, and delivering projects on schedule in a fast-paced startup environment; proposal writing is a plus.

Qualifications

• PhD with 2+ years, MS with 5+ years, or BS with 7+ years of post-degree experience in battery industries.
• Experience with lithium-ion battery materials, especially electrolytes and lithium metal anode.
• Ownership mindset with ability to generate IP and solve technical challenges.
• Small to mid-size research team management experience in a technical leadership role.
• Problem-solving mindset suited to fast-phase startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute lithium metal battery design/test/interpretation to understand best feasible cell chemistries and degradation mechanisms.
• Lead/generate intellectual properties or trade secrets to protect the company’s developments.
• Lead/manage joint-development program timelines to ensure on-time and within-budget deliveries.
• Perform other functions to support R&D operations.
• Proposal writing experience is a big plus.

Job description

PhD in relevant field with at least 2 years of post-degree experience in battery industries, or MS degree in relevant field with at least 5 years of post-degree experience in battery industries, or BS degree in relevant field with at least 7 years of post-degree experience in battery industries.

Prefer to have someone who has Intellectual properties (IP) and ability to generate IP.

Experience in lithium-ion battery materials and its process, especially in electrolytes and lithium metal anode is preferred.

Having an ownership mindset and executing powers to solve technical challenges/issues with fundamental and feasible approaches.

Small to mid-size research team management experience with technical leadership.

Problem-solving attitude in the fast phase start-up company.

Roles and Responsibilities

Plan and execute lithium metal battery design/test/interpretation of the results to understand the best feasible cell chemistries and/or degradation mechanism.

Lead/generate intellectual properties or trade secrets to protect the company’s technological developments and secure a competitive position.

Lead/Manage relevant joint-development program timeline to ensure program deliveries are on time and under budget.

Perform other functions as required to ensure success of assigned projects and to support the R&D operation.

Proposal writing experience is a big plus.
