Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience mixing or blending raw materials in an industrial batch process.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate mixing/grinding equipment on mezzanines and on the mixing floor.
  • Follow batch instructions and approve the first mix.
  • Accurately weigh and add raw materials to the equipment.
  • Check pre-batched materials for availability and accuracy.
  • Communicate pre-batch status to the next shift mixer(s).
  • Record raw material lot numbers and verify materials added.
  • Identify unusual conditions and notify the supervisor.
  • Record mix/grind times.
  • Train new and current employees.
  • Write and update procedures in ISO 9000 format.
  • Maintain housekeeping and restock raw materials per max/min guidelines.
  • Perform color mixing and track rework of color batches for future corrections.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams.

Job Description

This position will pre-batch, incorporate and blend raw materials, following detailed processing instructions for the purpose of creating a batch of industrial or architectural caulk. The incumbent has responsibility for the compositional correctness of the batch to be processed.

Additional Information

Schedule: Day Shift: 5:30am to 5:30pm: Week one, 48 hour week, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and week two, 36 hour week, Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operating mixing/grinding equipment (high speed dispersers (HSD’s), chemical mixer, Schold, and Meyers) on upper and lower mezzanines, and color /clear mixing floor
  • Following all manufacturing instructions on the batch slips – 1st mix approval percentage
  • Accurately measuring, weighing and adding raw materials to the mixing/grinding equipment
  • Checking all pre-batched raw materials for availability and accuracy prior to starting the batch
  • Communicating all pre-batch status to the next shift mixer(s)
  • Recording raw material lot numbers and properly checking off raw materials as they are added.
  • Recognizing unusual/improper conditions and notifying the supervisor
  • Recording accurate mix/grind times
  • Training of new and current employees
  • Writing and updating job procedures in ISO 9000 format
  • Maintaining housekeeping in mixing areas- To Inc: re-stocking of raw materials in proper locations per planned max/min. quantities
  • Perform color mixing function, document and track rework of color batches to develop a history for future corrections to the process
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have at least one (1) year of work experience mixing or blending raw materials and making a product in an industrial batch process
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation of machinery
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollys, conveyor belts, etc.)
