Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our production team. You will set up, run, and maintain manufacturing equipment to produce paint and coatings that meet customer requirements, while upholding a safe, clean and productive work environment.

The role involves operating heavy machinery, packaging lines, and coordinating with colleagues. A safety-focused mindset and willingness to learn are essential in a fast-paced plant setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: eighteen (18) years of age and legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • One year of experience in manufacturing and/or distribution is preferred.
  • Experience monitoring gauges, dials or machinery indicators is preferred.
  • Experience operating packaging equipment or material handling equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate and practice the principles of the Safety program.
  • Participate in plant safety committee meetings and activities.
  • Filter and screen reactor and process tank batches.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment such as HSDs, pumps and valves.
  • Operate packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, labelers, etc.
  • Monitor quality of product in manufacturing and packaging areas, including specs and assay certificates.
  • Read and follow production floor instructions across departments (production, packaging, shipping, receiving).
  • Complete paperwork involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Operate industrial power lifts per procedure.
  • Report unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in housekeeping to maintain safety and cleanliness.
  • Assist with training of new manufacturing technicians.

Job Description

This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, running, and maintaining manufacturing equipment to produce paint and coating products consistent with customer requirements. This position performs various manufacturing tasks as assigned and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive working environment.

Additional Information

Night Shift: 5:45 PM - 6:00 AM, 2 days on, 2 days off, then working every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality or product in manufacturing and packaging areas to include OTMIS (off the mill in spec), cycles, fill levels, package appearance, fill weights, and raw material certificate of analysis
  • Read and follow instructions in all areas of the production floor, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, receiving, etc.
  • Complete paperwork involved in the course of the manufacturing process.
  • Operate industrial power lifts per procedure
  • Reporting unsafe conditions
  • Participate in housekeeping activities that are indicative of a safe and clutter free work environment
  • Participate with training of new manufacturing techs
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation of machinery
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, or labelers, etc.
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollys, conveyor belts, etc.)
