Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Batch Off Operator to operate the batch-off and packaging of mixed compound, joining a team-focused environment with emphasis on safety and quality.

The position supports a 2nd shift from 2:45pm to 11:00pm, Monday through Friday, at a rate of $18 per hour plus a $1 shift premium for 2nd/3rd shifts, with opportunities for overtime and benefits including PTO, tuition assistance, wellness resources, and training.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Willing to work overtime including weekends.
• General computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Operate batch off and packaging of mixed compound.
• Operate computer control system.
• Maintain and operate barcode printer.
• Refill batch dip and maintain slab dip levels.
• Clean batch-off bars and dip tank weekly.
• Operate forklift for various functions.
• Monitor production output to ensure quality.
• Identify issues with product or process.

What Success Looks Like:

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Necessity for attention to detail.
• The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
• Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.
• Operate computer control system.
• Maintain and operate bar code printer.
• Refill batch dip
• Maintain proper slab dip levels for the compound being mixed.
• Clean Batch-off bars and dip tank on a weekly basis.
• Clean out gear pump head and assist with setting up next one.
• Clean packaging containers prior to packaging compounds.
• Ensure loop lengths are set accordingly for the recipe being mixed.
• Ensure rubber compound meets customer specs and is packaged in the proper container neatly.
• Operation of Pelletizer.
• Following all safety procedures and guidelines along with assisting in modifying and updating procedures
• Operating a forklift for various functions.

Your Credentials:

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• High School or GED preferred
• Willing to work overtime including weekends
• Knowledge of general computer skills.

The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and/or 3rd shift.
