Job summary

vTech Solution is seeking a Product Specialist to manage batch job scheduling and production control across mainframe and distributed systems. This remote role operates on the 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 12:00 AM) focusing on Control-M/Enterprise Manager scheduling, batch workload management, and resolving job failures with programmers and support teams.

Responsibilities include scheduling jobs, monitoring batch workloads, maintaining calendars, and documenting incidents in ServiceNow.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience with BMC Control-M for scheduling and managing batch jobs.
  • 2–5 years of experience with BMC Enterprise Manager for job scheduling and management.
  • 2–5 years managing batch workloads on AJF for mainframe and client-server applications.
  • Ability to analyze alerts and escalation procedures.
  • Proficiency with TSO/ISPF for job status analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Capability to identify server problems using monitoring tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule temporary and permanent jobs using Control-M/Enterprise Manager and modify schedules.
  • Manage, monitor, and analyze batch workloads and abends on mainframe and distributed systems.
  • Maintain and manage calendars within Control-M/Enterprise Manager.
  • Identify and resolve common job abends; escalate if SLAs are at risk.
  • Document issues and resolutions through ServiceNow tickets.
  • Use TSO/ISPF, JCL, and Control-M/Enterprise Manager for daily operations.
  • Communicate clearly with programmers and support personnel.

Job Summary

The Product Specialist is responsible for managing batch job scheduling and production control operations across mainframe and distributed systems. This remote role, operating on the 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 12:00 AM), focuses on Control-M/Enterprise Manager job scheduling, batch workload management, and resolving job failures in collaboration with programmers and support teams.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule temporary and permanent jobs using Control-M/Enterprise Manager and modify existing job schedules.
  • Manage, monitor, and analyze batch workloads and job abends on mainframe and distributed systems.
  • Maintain and manage calendars within Control-M/Enterprise Manager.
  • Identify and resolve common job abends; alert support staff and escalated to management when service level agreements are at risk.
  • Document all issues and resolutions through ServiceNow tickets, including incidents and incident tasks.
  • Utilize TSO/ISPF, JCL, and Control-M/Enterprise Manager tools efficiently for daily operations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with programmers and support personnel.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • 2 5 years of experience with BMC Control-M for scheduling and managing batch jobs.
  • 2 5 years of experience with BMC Enterprise Manager for job scheduling and management.
  • 2 5 years managing batch workloads on AJF for mainframe and client-server applications.
  • Ability to analyze alert and shout messages, assess severity, and follow escalation procedures.
  • Proficiency with TSO/ISPF for analyzing batch job status and troubleshooting issues.
  • Capability to identify server problems using monitoring tools such as Nagios, IP Monitor, and Tivoli.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Expert-level knowledge of JCL abend identification and resolution.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow for incident and task management.
  • General mainframe knowledge and experience with SDSF.
Special Considerations
  • Must work the 2nd shift hours, including every weekend and rotational holidays.
  • Remote work environment.
Scheduling
  • 2nd shift schedule: 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
  • Includes weekend and holiday rotations.
