Job summary

Plainfield Park District is seeking a part-time scorekeeper to manage scoreboard operations, record scores, and enforce game rules during assigned sport events. Shifts include Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with hours varying weekly.

Ideal candidates are 18+, have scorekeeping experience in sports, and basketball knowledge. CPR/AED preferred. Position collaborates with coaches, referees, and the Recreation Supervisor to ensure smooth, safe games.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 1 year practical experience in sports-related field with detailed knowledge as scorekeeper.
• Must have basketball knowledge.
• Experience playing or scorekeeping any level of assigned sport category.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with coaches, scorekeepers, and referees.
• Operate scoreboard, keep official scorebook, and enforce rules.
• Scorekeepers must participate in required training; hours vary weekly.
• Enforce procedures to maintain safe environment; report unsafe practices to Recreation Supervisor.
• Monitor field/facility and game progress; respond to questions and emergencies; diffuse conflicts.
• Handle 911 emergencies per procedures.
• Assist in collecting outstanding paperwork from officials.
• Work hours depend on sport category as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.

Shifts included: Fridays 5:15pm-9:45pm, Saturdays 8:15am-1:30pm, Sundays 8:45am-1pm, 12:45pm-4:15pm

$17-$20/hour DOQ

Responsibilities include:

• Communication with coaches, scorekeepers, and referees.
• Operates scoreboard, keeps official scorebook, and enforces rules.
• Scorekeepers are required to participate in all required training. Hours vary from 3 to 12 per week depending on schedule.
• Ensure a safe and efficient environment by enforcing operating procedures; report inappropriate or unsafe practices to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Monitor field/facility and game progress. Respond to questions, complaints, and emergency situations; take appropriate courses of action, notify recreation supervisor whenever necessary. Problem solve and diffuse conflict.
• Handle 911 emergency situations while adhering to emergency procedures and notification process.
• Assist in collection of any outstanding paperwork from officials.
• Work hours will be specific to sport category, as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age or older.
• 1 year practical experience in sports related field with detailed knowledge as scorekeeper.

• Must be able to work hours specific to sport category.
• C.P.R. and A.E.D. preferred.
• Ability to lead/advise volunteers and participants to ensure the success of assigned games.
• Ability to follow direction and work independently.
• Detailed oriented with good organizational skills.
